Squeaky Bean

Freshly picked and
steamed
green beans
squeak
against teeth
like windows washed
streak clean;
the freshly picking, steaming,
human being
tests each bite
like a clown’s bright horn–with
crinkled wince and laughs;
chews, shines
inside.
