Sketching An Elephant From Your Head (Flash Friday 55)

Sketching An Elephant From Your Head

The trick is not the trunk, the climbing
spine, knee lines or overlapping
ear flaps; it all comes down
to the eyebrows.
Even if their slant alone
does not say elephant,
they must be lines that wonder, like you,
why they’ve been drawn here,
above those dotted eyes,
below that blank sky,
and then remember.

Here’s my nearly belated Friday Flash 55 for the G-Man.  Tell him about it.

I’m afraid I’ve done no noveling this week, just job work.  Agh!  (Yes, I’m so lucky to have a great job, though I’m a bit disappointed.)  Not expecting a break till Thanksgiving possibly, but hopefully then to have a bit of a stretch.  Thanks so much for checking in.

I am using an old and early animation for this, done on an iPad app called Animation Creation. Music, such as it is, by yours truly.

ah – so much in the eyebrows… i have an eyebrow forest by the way.. if i wouldn’t twitch them they would hang all over in front of my eyes…ha…ok…exaggerating a bit..smiles… happy saturday

  3. brian miller Says:

it all comes down to the eyebrows…for sure…without that wonder, is it really an elephant? or are we what without our wonder as well…cute little animation k

  4. hedgewitch Says:

I love the final twist-turn, the simplicity of ending with the ultimate question. Both word and line sketch very alive, k. As always your elephants both charm and mystify. with their air of wisdom combined with an inner levity that they seem to always be cultivating, perhaps to keep themselves, and us, sane.Happy weekend!

I loved watching this, Karin. Artists amaze me. When I was young, I thought I might be artistic. Later I found out I’m just wordy. My youngest brother is an artist, and it’s fun to watch his drawings come alive, as yours did when you added the eyebrows.
    Loved your musical accompaniment, too.

Ha! I love that! I know the feeling about work consuming too much time, kiddo. I am hopelessly awash at the moment……glad your job is a good one, at least.

  7. Lindy Lee Says:

You & your elephants are exceptional,
    no matter how you’re sketched…

  8. G-Man Says:

    Karin…You are so Cool!
Hedge nailed my thoughts exactly, I just knew
that you were going to drop a thoughtful aside.
    Loved your Pachyderm 55
Thanks for this terrific bit of mirth
    Have a Kick Ass Week…G
