Once More

  Once More

I want
to stop time.
I want to park it on
a swing and re-arc
the same pie of sky
until I’ve had
my fill.
I don’t want
you to die.
Or me.
And I want to live all the many moments
this single one can be
again and again
until I get it
right.

Aha!  It is May and a new poem (or draft poem) occurred to me last night.  I may link this to Real Toads as the poem turned out, on first write, to be exactly 55 words (and it happens to be a Flash 55 day.)  Or maybe I’ll come up with another!  Who knows?  (Freedom from compulsion–meaning the fact that my commitment to April is over and I can write as many poems a day as I wish –or not–is its own inspiration!)  Have a good weekend.

  1. There are those moments when we wish time to last forever, lovely poem..

  2. Snakypoet (Rosemary Nissen-Wade) Says:

Such a beautiful picture! Very Zen — I do declare, even though I don’t really know what I’m talking about. I’d call the poem anti-Zen, and I love it for that. Very much what I would like, too.

    • Snakypoet (Rosemary Nissen-Wade) Says:

Oh well, I see you weren’t necessarily relating this to Zen anyhow … but even so ….

      • ManicDdaily Says:

Yes, I think it is anti-zen. I actually wrote it last night before seeing the prompt and it turned out to be 55 words first go. Crazy. (Maybe that bit was zen in that I did not edit much– ha. ) k.

  3. Susan Says:

And it would be absolutely marvelous if we could life in “that which we had been seeking” for a while beyond getting it right. Love the swinging and the arcs and the pie of sky.

  4. Kerry O'Connor Says:

The lines are beautifully composed. The word ‘poise’ came to mind as I read – poised in structure and content.

  5. Jim Says:

I am glad for the second chances that are in the plan for us. Thanks for reminding us of how we are made.

Oh, goodness. I just adore this:
“I want to park it on
    a swing and re-arc
    the same pie of sky
    until I’ve had
    my fill.”

  7. We need those second chances we are blessed to receive.

  8. hedgewitch Says:

I was laughing from the Koan one, then caught this one in the solar plexus–not that it is grim, because it is far from that. but just because swings that swing so high take me that way. Loved them both, k–and hope you are feeling better.

  9. Helen Says:

You were right … my spirit soars.

    • ManicDdaily Says:

Oh, thank you, Helen. That is very kind. k.
