On Being Asked About Flowers
Spring has not yet reached upstate New York.
(For those who cannot read the image – the white is snow. For some reason, it seems to melt in these little circles around certain plants.)

i noticed those circles when we had our snow a few weeks back…maybe the heat of new life protects the little flowers as much as it can…

even with all the snow, I get a sense of warm from this pic. geothermal, hibernation, life down-in. wonderful.

Thanks – it is so curious the way that the melts work. k.

I get a sense of freaking desperation. ;_) No, jane is right, when the flower sticks its (desperate) little head out of the snow, it makes a space for the sun to warm the darker earth around it…a good thing, but I have to admit if this was the only sign of spring I was seeing, I would still be kicking the winter blues around like a tin can full of angst. It should be a real shock for you to go from this to hot summer–I bet you will be writing your chops off.

Ha. Well, I’m a bit tired, frankly. And last night packing for both work in the City for a few days and India and work in the City when I come back, made me feel a bit crazed – especially since so many things are still boxed up. But I will be terribly happy to see my daughter. k.
