One World Trade (Looking Tall)
A few days ago, I posted a picture taken of One World Trade Center, the replacement for the old World Trade Towers, taken at night in fog and looking very foreshortened. I thought people might find it interesting to see the building from a different perspective which shows it to be really very tall. (This picture was taken last night.) It will be 104 stories when completed and the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. For a sense of perspective – the building on the far left side — the World Financial Center–is over 40 stories.

A striking picture, and an interesting-looking building–very futuristic, almost looks as if there is an optical illusion of twist going on somehow in that triangular portion.

Yes, it does have a funny twist. It looks kind of goofy in the mock-up pictures, but I think that’s partly because it’s always against a backdrop of unrealistically blue sky. (This sky is blue! But the one in the typical mock=up is like a romance novel cover.)

Agreed. I have met some crane operators on the subway – going home when it is too windy to work. I can’t imagine what it must be like. k.
