In the Blink

In the blink

Rocks wink at me
like bits of moon
from the bottom of the stream,
ripples wisps of cloud
on a breeze-blown night.
How do we not understand
that life has gone by
before we even turn
our hearts?

A draft of sorts.  Posted for myself. The pic is mine–an old one.  I’m sorry that I did not take one today when the water was so clear, and the rocks so reflective.

Life is always moving and alive around us.
I think often we are too distracted to notice though.

The last line is strikingly lovely and graceful, k–and the whole poem breathes like a living thing.

This reads to me like a poem that wrote itself, or at least demanded to be written. It is a beautiful capture of natural splendour.

Thanks, Kerry. I am honestly a little afraid to look back at it, as it did sort of write itself, but I may have mucked something up in transcription! Thanks as always. Hope school is okay. k.
