Autumn, Chilling
Autumn, Chilling
I misread the saunter
of fall leaf
as butterfly landing,
but it’s cold for monarchs;
swallowtails, too, long high-tailed;
even moths
look for sweaters.

Here’s a poem for open link day on With Real Toads. Both pics are mine from recent beautiful days! (Admittedly. the bottom one is a bit watery, but loved the swirls.)

I had to laugh thinking of moths looking for sweaters and suddenly I thought about the clothes moth and realize that there are some that really are hooked on sweaters.

Very very complete and vivid for being so brief(like butterflies) k–and the pics are wonderful, full of light and the movement of the seasons. I had a friend whose mother was hell on moths–she would follow them around if they got in the house and kill them, all the while apologizing, ‘I’m sorry little moth, but the curtains…’This made me think of her.

Ha. Well, I must be very gentle on them to take a look at some of my wool things! k.

Okay, you have convinced me. Will take down my hummingbird feeders, still hanging hopelessly – fruitlessly – on the porch. Smiles.

Lucky you, you’ve got autumn there already! 🙂 I’m out tomorrow to London (I live in London, by the way, but in the sticks. So, when we, stick-dwellers, say “go to London”, we mean central London 🙂 )
Beautiful poem. Thanks.
Greetings from London.

🙂 Off limits here for moths, k. Especially those with or looking for sweaters. Seems we’ve spent the last half our lives in London over the past five years and then some before. Our daughter had a London job those last five but she is here now. Family, Hub and two daughters too. One daughter went back though for her last year in high school.
We have a bee shortage here in the States. Perhaps we should write of their troubles.
