The Brain (how it performs sometimes)
The Brain (how it performs sometimes)
It wants to be petted,
wants to be stroked,
doesn’t like
to be vetted/poked.
Don’t make it jump
repeated hoops
unless they are
high-fired loops–
Then the brain, hard-wired as moth to flame,
dons tiger stripes and lion’s mane,
describes arcs gold as melted butter,
all to hear the clapping after
of another brain.
**************************
Here’s 55 (excluding the title) from a brain that likes to perform when the challenge/audience is there, but that is right now exhausted from a lot of traveling and socializing–not great for poeticizing. I am linking it to With Real Toad’s 55 challenge, taking over from the G-Man.
The drawing is mine–lion/tiger jumping through a fiery hoop?

Sometimes we just like the praise of other brains humans that we are.

What an excellent romp in 55 words. My first reading was all about enjoying the rhymes, the second for all the lovely images.

ah nice… the brain raises to the challenge – and loves to jump through burning hoops sometimes… but sometimes also just needs a little rest and a good glass of wine…smiles

An unexpected twist at the end here with another brain joining the scene. I enjoy the brain as moth to flame and the fiery hoops. great interplay of images. and super cute drawing.

Ha, thanks. I tell you when all else fails, it is so wonderful to draw.

Yes, that last line is what gets the brain to jump out of bed and through all the hoops–without an audience, it’s nothing but slog. This is clever and fun, k, and I love the tiglion, or whatever they call those hybrid cats–a perfect analogy.

I love that type of brain… sometimes looping through the hoops.. I love the rhythm and internal rhymes in this… 🙂
