Dream Lids (Friday Flash 55)
Dream Lids
We baled out
into a swamp–bad idea, turtle
wading onto my head,
snapper, its creased leg eye-dangling khaki,
mottled shell
a dangerous helmet. You turned
to help. “Don’t use the oar,”
I pleaded at your hoist, but seeing aim
in your eyes, shut mine,
dream lids able to shield
as needed.

i just love the idea of having a turtle on the head…the don’t use the oar and the seeing aim in the eyes…ha…really love this..it’s so charming… i will see if i find a turtle now that would be ok if i carry it around on my head a bit…smiles…i got bitten by a turtle once by the way when i was a kid…i thought they have no teeth and…well…ha…smiles

yikes….so they are about to swing on your head….ha…a little overkill isnt it…those snappers are vicious though….had one bit a broom stick in half by my house growing up….

I love dreams that have these wonderful(well, maybe not at the time) surreal images in them–I get them occasionally, too. Here its like the reptilian brain comes alive when in escape mode, and then the Other tries to destroy it–but of course, the dream lids are powerful and shamanic stuff. Love this one,k–and hope your weekend is restful after your hectic workweek.

I love the turtle idea! I don’t sleep well either, a few magical turtles would be grandiose if I could lay their backs!
