“Vacuum (Swept From the Closet)” – Flash 55 (Excerpt ha! from Nanowrimo)
Vacuum (Swept From The Closet)
“Are you drawing that vacuum cleaner?
It had been pulled from the closet.
“You are! You’re drawing that vacuum cleaner!”
He inhaled/exhaled concentration, fumes of marker slashes, too, in the air.
“Since when are vacuum cleaners great art?”
In-out, till, with renewed compression of breath/stare, he flipped the sheet over the spiralwired pad, began again.

Agh! I really am trying to work on Nanowrimo. A bit. A difficult week. Here’s a 55 word section for the G-Man.

It’s a still life! Everyone draws boring fruit bowls so why not a vacumn cleaner? Love it, and good luck with the November thing.

Vacuum cleaner puns are terribly lowbrow–sorry. ;_P

I can think of a world of objects less deserving of the term. Certainly it becomes great art in your hands.

oh vacuum cleaners ARE great art…just reminded me of the jeff koons exhibition i visited a while ago…he had a hall full with all vacuum cleaners…and heck it WAS art..smiles

Well, I agree that vacuum cleaners are great art. And that Jeff Koons is a definite artist. That said, I do like vacuum cleaners as art, but I don’t really like Jeff Koons so much. It’s not the subject matter, it’s the sleek sheen of the metal. There’s one downtown here – the cherries that is quite nice but I just don’t care much for the big balloon dogs. Not on an “is it art?” level – perhaps on a “is it good art?” level. I find them a bit slick, like things more gnarly. But THANKS much for your comment. Hope you are over your jet lag! k.

I say it is a beautiful continuous line sketch. A handsomer vacuum I have yet to see. And I love the smell of permanent marker 🙂
