P.P.S. After posting last night, the thought occurred that I should add glasses, though I really hadn’t intended the elephant to be good old Tom. But still, well, glasses on an elephant are hard to resist, so here they are. Then, at suggestion of other commenter, I added something else.

You know, when I woke up this morning I felt I should have added little round glasses to the elephant, and I did that on the original drawing, but haven’t posted. I didn’t really intend it to look like Eliot. Of course, the glasses are kind of cute, so maybe I should put up as alternative.

My first thought was that this was one of those “How many differences can you spot in these two pictures” puzzles. I was looking for the mermaids!

Yes I should delete the first one. I’ve been a bit rushed, and I liked the expression and I didn’t want it to look as if I really meant Eliot to be an elephant. Maybe I’ll add a mermaid though.

Never though of Eliot as elephantine(that would surely be Pound) but I must say, this looks quite authentically staged in a Prufrockian manner, except the elephant looks way too unabashedly pleased with things.
The glasses are too cool.

i love his little, yellow beach cardigan and the mermaid addition! no matter what age, elephants always look old to me.

Thanks! I am very capable of making all kinds of goofy typos. On the other hand, the fact that I did this one shows me how far away even the 1980’s seem. I myself grow old! k.
