Flash Friday 55 – Mitt Lets Us Know Exactly What We Need To Do Next

20120914-095651.jpg

We must be strong…. (Yes.)

And use our influence with our allies. (Sure.)

And be strong.… (Absolutely…)

Because the world is a dangerous place. (You bet. )

And use our influence. (Never would have thought of that.)

And be strong. (Yesss…..)

Because HE’s wrong. (Huh?—)

No matter what– (Well….)

Because he’s HIM… (Aha.)

No matter what.

******************************************

The dialogue above has – you guessed it – 55 words so please tell it to the G-Man.

I do not want to seem flippant, but I also want to take this opportunity to send condolences and prayers to the families of the four Americans slain in Libya, J. Christopher Stevens (Ambassador), Sean Smith (Foreign Service Information Office), Tyrone S. Woods (former Navy Seal providing security), and Glenn A. Doherty (former Navy Seal providing secruity). I also extend condolences to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who seems to have particularly felt the loss of these fine Americans who served under her, and who has spoken with such eloquence about their lives and deaths.

What a nice tribute. It is so sad when people are killed so senselessly. I really like your conversational 55! Kudos! Mine is here

    that dialog is so ‘Pinteresque’

No fear of sounding flippant, I think. The Flash form, while not precluding depth, hardly encourages it, but somehow you’ve managed some incisiveness. I find that impressive and the tribute very touching. These are sad and worrying times.

Hahahahaha, this is really cool, especially his blurred face in conjunction with the dialog. #Great

Thanks for this. Sometimes it’s important to speak out as you did. Mitt missed that that it’s really about these four civil servants who were killed needlessly.

Thanks for this, k. You express the whole kerfuffle in a nutshell and put the chest-thumping posturing and dog-whistle racism/hate in perspective. It’s very surprising to me that anyone can take Romney seriously after this–he is so obviously a puppet ..if he is elected, there will be a drumbeat for war with Iran before Christmas, and his ‘tax reform’ will make the deficit and debt we have now look like a kid’s overspent allowance. But aside from these very serious issues, the fact remains that he was willing to score political points over the deaths of US citizens serving our country on foreign soil, instead of mourning them and thinking of the personal losses their families are facing before opening his pie hole on the subject. My husband has a theory that the extreme elements of the far right in this country will have to be allowed to gain control of things in order for people to really realize how far they are willing to go and how dangerous they are–I hope he’s wrong.

I understand what your husband says, but I kind of think we already went through that with Bush, didn’t we? I mean, he wasn’t exactly “tea party,” but certainly fairly far right – and after two wars and financial collapse, the country might remember.

Also, what drives me a bit crazy is the unwillingness to look at what’s happened in Europe. Right-wingers want to blame the collapse on social spending, but I think (a) huge speculation, (b) the lack of a unified political system or true political ties between the economic units, and (c) the high valuation of currency for countries that traditionally relied on lower-valued currency (like Greece) bears a large share of the blame. Plus look how “austerity” has worked. I can understand the Germans, of course, because they are a different country. But, here, we are one country. I don’t think this is very clear, but I’m sure you get what I mean. k.

so good..i’m not too familiar with the US politics but think you have people like him in every government all across the world…ha

… I won’t comment this week 🙂 Well, I guess I will a little bit. I really can’t say Obama was very well spoken on this issue either. And it wasn’t a film that caused this. That is an excuse. It was pure hatred. And even IF the movie had angered them… killing is an OK thing to do? Truly a crazy world we live in.

    • ManicDdaily's avatar ManicDdaily Says:

You are absolutely right, Margaret. I don’t think anyone – Obama or Hillary Clinton are saying that a film of any kind is justification for killing. I think that they all think the film was an excuse. I only make fun of Romney – and I don’t mean to be offensive – because I think is pretty unspecific in all of his proposals, and much of what he will say is very difficult to argue with because they are platitudes of a sort. But you are right – it’s all pretty crazy.

My main feeling here arises from the fact that my stepson (to whom I’ve been close his whole life) is in the military right now. I can’t help but feel that Obama has more specific feeling for the issues of the troops and their families– I may be wrong, of course, but it’s an issue that’s extremely important to me.

🙂 When one reads history and political races in America’s early history it isn’t much better… in fact at times, believe it or not, I think it was worse. They just didn’t have immediate news coverage and instant replay like we have today!

      • ManicDdaily's avatar ManicDdaily Says:

Oh I think there was a lot of corruption and animosity. Duels! And of course slavery.
